Learnings 24-30 June
Fixing abandonment issues, iterating a digital product with customer feedback, finding cool movies and catching legendary pokemon.
A new week has passed and new learnings along the way.
1. Fixing abandonment issues
Mayor life learning. After having a few sessions with my therapist. She got a pretty good reading about me. I was terrified of people leaving me. My solution? Leave first. Close up. Don't tell anyone about my problems.
The worst is that it's a widespread problem among men (<40% of men never take therapy and >80% report having big issues with anxiety and depression, wtffff)
Happy to report that after realizing that was a problem, I am taking corrective measures to overcome this abandonment issue. Taking more about my problems with my friends (not only the good stuff) and assuming strangers will be interested in what I will say is working perfectly. I feel way lighter. Summer is coming. 🌞
2. Getting customer feedback to iterate a digital product
It is a big week for my company UpSpeak.
After changing my strategy to find testers from last week, happy to report that I got my first 2 testers. And got pretty solid feedback:
Reducing the testing time. Before the app took at least 10 minutes to test because the users needed to record themselves while giving a talk. Now, they can just paste a YouTube link. So I reduced the testing time for the app from 10 minutes to 1 minute. Something tells me I am getting way more feedback this week 😍
Adding a summary of the communications report. My app gives a pretty exhaustive report on how to improve your slides and voice while giving a presentation. But it takes way too long to test. Having a report with a few bullet points to improve, sounds way way more attractive to early customers. I will add this feature this week.
So basically, you always should aim to give the most amount of value in the least possible time.
3. Finding great movies to watch
I am not a movie guy. Movies are sometimes too predictable, or too dramatic. Now, I found Trak.tv. An app that installs with your Stream.io (the best free movie app, strongly recommend) learns about your likes and recommends new shows to watch.
So yesterday, I had an amazing movie marathon when Trak recommended the Cloverfield franchise (super good if you look sci-fy).
Finally, an update on my Pokemon journey.
I found Rayquaza 😱. The legendary Pokemon of Gen 3. Probably the most badass Pokemon out there.
Unfortunately, I ran out of Pokeballs to give the final blow and he ran away. So that leads me to my biggest learning of the week:
Always bring enough Pokeballs with you 😭
Until next week!
